How to Apply

To apply to Dutch universities, follow these steps:

Step 1: Choose Your Program Visit university websites or use the official platform (www.studyinholland.nl) to explore suitable programs.

Step 2: Check Entry Requirements Typical requirements include:

  • Completed application form

  • Valid passport

  • Secondary school or university transcripts

  • English language certificate (IELTS, TOEFL, or Cambridge English)

  • CV, motivation letter, and sometimes a portfolio (for arts and design programs)

Step 3: Submit Application Applications for most programs are submitted via the Studielink portal. Deadlines generally fall between January and May for September intake.

Step 4: Receive Admission Letter After evaluation, you’ll receive a conditional or full offer depending on submitted documents.

Step 5: Apply for Student Visa (MVV) The university usually applies on your behalf to the Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND).


Netherlands Student Visa Requirements

Non-EU/EEA students must apply for a student visa (MVV) and a residence permit.

Required Documents:

  • Proof of admission

  • Valid passport

  • Proof of sufficient financial means (approx. €950/month)

  • Health insurance covering your stay in the Netherlands

  • Tuberculosis test (if applicable)

  • Payment of visa fees and residence permit costs

Processing can take 2–4 weeks, and most universities guide students through the process.


Working While Studying

Non-EU/EEA students are allowed to work up to 16 hours per week during the academic term and full-time during the summer holidays. A work permit is required and usually arranged by the employer.
